In term 4 2013, the school applied to the Premier’s Department for an Artist in Residence to work with our student, both deaf and hearing. Our school with over 100 hundred applications was successful in received funding for 2014.

This term and next, we are very privileged to have Jo Dunbar a very successful (Deaf) Dance Artist working with our deaf students alongside their hearing peers.  The classes selected are Room 17, 18 and 21.  The classes will be held on Fridays in the Performing Arts Studio.

I cannot wait to see our student’s dance moves!!!

The Performing Arts

This term the students from grades 3-6 welcome the introduction of Performing Arts into the curriculum.  The Performing Arts classes will held in the school’s Performing Arts Studio.  We are also very fortunate this year to be working with the Song Room and have a visiting teacher artist Rachael Dyson McGregor here on Mondays developing the students Drama skills through a variety of activities.

The Song Room is a national not-for-profit organisation that tailors high quality music and arts program within schools. This term our focus will be Drama and together with Rachael we will be providing our students the opportunity to participate in Drama lessons to enhance their education, personal development and community involvement.

More information on the Song Room can be found on the Song Room link under ‘Useful Websites’.
