Term 1: Self Portraits

During term one the students from 3 to 6 have been exploring Self Portraits.  A self portrait is a drawing, photograph, painting or a sculpture that only you can create of yourself. Through out the term, this unit has provided opportunities for our students to develop their understanding of themselves and their world.  They have investigated the ways in which artists express identity and by exploring ways of representing ideas about themselves through drawing and painting.

The grade 3/4/5 students were inspired by Aboriginal artist Bede Tungutalum and focused on using the art elements of line and pattern. The grade 5/6 students worked on developing their skills on line, pattern and colour.

Here are some excellent artwork produced by our very talented students:

Look out for the Self Portrait displays around the school!
